Dramatisk CBS it-case-sejr i Singapore

Sejrsskamlen stod i Singapore.

To omgange svineinfluenza-karantæne

Hi! Let me correct some "facts" that are in the above article.

1. CBS did not have any advantage because the case was on Vestas. There was also a team from Århus in the competition and it was not an advantage for them! All teams were on equal footing with the same knowledge.

2. Theis didn't "go down with the flag" until after the awards dinner. They presented in Round One and then Theis was able to sleep between their presetations in Round One and Two. He again got a bit of sleep between Round Two and the finals. We then went to the awards dinner, and it was not until after the awards dinner - at about 22.00 or 36 hours after they first got the case - that Theis admitted to himself that his fever was demanding bed!

3. It was not Christian Øhgaard but Stephan Brostrøm who got a rather serious infection of the inner layer of skin at his ankle.

4. Christian was fine! He was the one who was able to celebrate the victory for the team with the rest of the competitors!.

5. Also let me correct that Vestas had sent emails out to various contacts at schools to garner interest in the case competition. The mails were not directed to me and only me. Vestas was understandably interested in getting so many good schools involved as possible.

6. Finally, the interesting thing about this competition was that it was a combination of both IT and business and the case required good insight into both. It seems to be the case around the world that IT majors are quite separated from business. If anything, that was the CBS advantage: they are taught to look at both the business and IT side of issues. So the team I put together with two DØK and one business was a perfect combination. They all added insight from different areas. And that is what I aim for when choosing teams for competitions: a range of program representation!

Go CBS! Once again, I was proud to be a part of this school!

Dear Stephanie (and other comment-readers).

First of all congratulations to Idea Team and you as their proud coach - and please pardon my factual mistakes, I'll correct them immediately after sending in this comment.

There's no hidden critique intended in any part of the article, and the factual mistakes are purely due to my misunderstanding details in the verbal information, you gave me. Thanks for setting me straight. So for the record:

1. The "small home advantage" is only a reflection over the amusing fact that a Danish team went to Singapore and delivered a case competition solution for a Danish company. I'll leave that unchanged.

2. I'll go through that paragraph and correct it.

3. I'll correct that too.

4. Which will take care of that.

5. I'll adjust that.

6. And I'll leave this extra perspective to be read in your comment.

Best regards
