The main campus located in the heart of Frederiksberg.

101 guide to the CBS campus: the CBS campus consists of several buildings dispersed throughout multiple areas of the city of Copenhagen, which can be confusing to new students. So, CBS OBSERVER decided to ‘get lost’ on campus so you don’t have to, and we present all the insider info, typical pitfalls, and answers to some typical FAQ’s in this article.

The main building – a good starting point

The first step in getting to know the campus is to familiarize yourself with the building at Solbjerg Plads, which is part of the quarter Frederiksberg; the building is the main building of the CBS campus and it is also the largest building on campus.

Solbjerg Plads along with Gammel Kongevej, Frederiksbergcentret, and the town hall of Frederiksberg constitutes the center of Frederiksberg.

The main building is characterized by large glass panels and a very attractive location, surrounded by grassy, undulating ground, trees, and a system of paths that connects the main building with the other major building of the main campus; Kilen.

Opening hours for Solbjerg Plads (main building):

Monday – Friday: 7.30 am to 11 pm.

Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays: 8 am to 10 pm.

CBS' 'White House' is a wedge

Kilen (direct translation: the wedge) is CBS’s administrative vortex. The building is an architectonic gem and apparently so beautiful that it received the prestigious British Riba Award from the Royal Institute of British Architects in 2006. Kilen is easily recognizable with its characteristic wedge shape and stringent wood shutters.

On sunny days students at CBS enjoy socializing throughout the park area between the main building and Kilen.

The interior design of Kilen is even more beautiful than the exterior design and the building is the home of the offices of CBS’ president, the dean of research, the dean of education, CBS’ university director, as well as a number of central administrative employees.

Opening hours for Kilen:

Monday – Friday: 7.30 am to 9 pm.

Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays: Closed.

24-hour access to Porcelænshaven

If you follow the path from the main building and continue past Kilen, you will reach the street Nordre Fasanvej and Fasanvej metro station; turn left on Nordre Fasanvej and a few hundred meters down the road you will reach the building Porcelænshaven on your left.

Look for a large glass façade; continue another 50 meters and then turn left. The entrance area is often characterized by an abundance of parked bicycles, so if you see that, you are surely in the right place.

Porcelænshaven used to be a porcelain factory, which gives the building a charming and particular look. The building contains several auditoriums and classrooms, and it is also the home of a number of student organizations mainly focusing on entrepreneurship, e.g. the Copenhagen School of Entrepreneurship.

There is 24-hour access to the building for students at CBS. To get access, you must use your new CBS student ID card and a pin code, which will be provided to you upon your request at the help desk just outside the library in the main building at Solbjerg Plads.

Graduate students are masters in their own house

As a graduate student at CBS there are other options, if you need a place to study during the late hours of the day, namely the most recent addition to the CBS campus; Graduate House.

Again, turn left on Nordre Fasanvej from Fasanvej metro station and turn right in the intersection between Nordre Fasanvej and Peter Bangs Vej. Continue straight ahead along Peter Bangs Vej and after approximately 400 meters you will reach H. V. Nyholmsvej on your right.

Turn right on H. V. Nyholmsvej; at the end of the street you will spot a sand colored building; this is the Graduate House. The building contains reading rooms, lecture halls, and a canteen and the facilities are to be used exclusively by graduate students at CBS.

The canteen in Graduate House has 24-hour service (self-service outside opening hours).

Where to find a quiet place to study?

Jump on the metro at Fasanvej or Frederiksberg metro stations – direction: ‘Vanløse’ – and jump off at ‘Lindevang’ station (it is just one stop from Fasanvej station). From the metro station you can see a large, white building on your right; this is Dalgas Have, which is also part of the CBS campus.

Dalgas Have is a beautiful, spacious building and it is not as crowded as some of the other buildings on campus, which makes it easy to find a quiet spot where you can focus on your studies; the building contains a large reading room, an auditorium, several group rooms as well as classrooms, and a canteen.

Opening hours for Dalgas Have:

Monday – Friday: 7.30 am to 9 pm.

Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays: Closed.

By Metro to the extremities of CBS' campus

The two extremities of the CBS campus are the facilities at Flintholm and Amager Strandvej; relatively new facilities that are part of CBS’ ambition to offer students more room and better conditions in relation to exams.

Jump on the metro – direction: ‘Vanløse’- to get to the facilities at Flintholm, which is also the name of the metro station where you should jump off. The building is literally right next to the station.

Or, jump on the metro – direction: ‘Lufthavnen/ Copenhagen Airport – and jump off at Øresund metro station, turn right on Øresundsvej and then right on Amager Strandvej; continue straight ahead for a few hundred meters and you will reach the building on your right.

Generally you will find a metro station in walking distance from almost all of the buildings that are part of the CBS campus, which, as you know now, consists of buildings dispersed over a large area throughout Copenhagen.

Opening hours for Flintholm:

Monday – Friday: 8 am to 6 pm.

Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays: Closed.

(The facilities at Amager Strandvej are exclusively used for the purpose of examinations, thus you will only get to use these facilities in relation to exams).
